Location:

Richmond, BC

Project Overview

This project aims to replace the current Richmond Lions Manor-Bridgeport beds and expand long-term care (LTC) services in Richmond, BC, to meet the growing demand. The new, 15,123 m² facility will be built on a 1.85-acre site, offering a home-like environment aligned with Vancouver Coastal Health’s (VCH) Social Model of Care. It will improve access to hospice care and other healthcare services, serving both residents and the broader Steveston community. The project will feature a future-focused design with sustainability at its core, including energy conservation measures and a commitment to LEED Gold certification.

Key objectives of the project include:

  • Development of a 144-bed LTC home, with 12 beds for overnight respite care
  • 14 hospice beds to ensure timely access to hospice and respite care
  • An Adult Day Program (ADP) with 25 spaces, available seven days a week
  • A childcare centre for 37 children, supporting intergenerational care
  • Community spaces such as a cafe and a sacred/contemplative area
  • Dedicated outdoor gardens for residents and program participants
  • Integration of culturally safe and inclusive design elements

The project will adhere to VCH’s 2020 LTC Design Guidelines and 2021 Indigenous Design Guidelines to support Indigenous engagement and create culturally supportive environments. It will also comply with the British Columbia Community Care and Assisted Living Act.
