Project Overview
The Harry Jerome Community Recreation Centre (HJCRC) will be a people-oriented gathering place, designed to the highest accessibility standards, and will draw residents of all ages and abilities to explore, create, play, exercise, train, learn, relax, rehabilitate, and connect.
The principles of equity, social inclusion, wellness, security, adaptability, environmental responsibility and fiscal responsibility are woven into the building design, construction, and surrounding landscape. The flexible spaces will allow for adaptation including an aquatics centre, arena, multipurpose spaces, gymnasium, fitness, youth and pre-school spaces, community kitchen, art space, atrium and inner courtyard, extensive outdoor program, woodworking and art studios, commercial kitchen, billiards room, administration areas, thrift store, and a dining room.
