Project Overview

The Richmond Olympic Oval is an indoor multi-sports arena that was built for Vancouver’s 2010 Winter Olympics and was originally configured with a speed skating rink. The venue was reconfigured post-Olympics to serve as a community multi-sport park including two ice hockey rinks, two running tracks, a climbing wall, rowing tank, and a flexible area which can be used for basketball, volleyball, and other indoor sports. The facility also boasts a 23,000 sq. ft. high-tech fitness training facility and a 660 ft. running track.

The innovative WoodWave panel roof, using pine-beetle-kill wood, was invented for this building, answering the need for both structural efficiency and acoustical absorption.

Primary Services
